Malta is an archipelago of history and sunshine in the heart of the Mediterranean. Valletta, Europe's smallest capital, is a UNESCO baroque jewel. Crystal waters, megalithic temples older than the pyramids and English as official language make it accessible to all.
Malta packs incredible variety: the Three Cities, Blue Lagoon in Comino, Dingli Cliffs, St Julian's nightlife and rural Gozo charm. The island can be explored in a week with low-cost flights making it super affordable.
May-October for sea and sun. September is perfect (warm, fewer tourists, warm sea). Winter is mild (15°C) but windy.
Pastizzi (ricotta or pea pastries), rabbit stew (national dish), ftira (Maltese pizza), ħobż biż-żejt (tomato bread), lampuki (local fish) and kinnie (local soft drink).
Valletta for baroque culture. Sliema for shopping and restaurants. St Julian's and Paceville for nightlife. Mdina for the Silent City. Gozo for nature and relaxation.
Malta Airport (MLA) is central, 20 minutes from Valletta by bus. Malta is tiny: everything within 40 minutes by car.
